“Although it is definitely a good investment to buy a pair of well cut jeans, it’s surprisingly how few are out there. I will not spend money on something that doesn’t make me look good and nor should you” Victoria Beckham
1. Check the Waste band
- Make Sure the waste band isn’t too thick or heavy.
- Make sure they do not create a gap on top.
- Making sure that jeans with a high waste in the back is important so when you sit down it does not expose your rear/underpants.
2. Bottom Shaping
- Making sure the jeans do not have too much stretch.
- They should flatter your bottom and should be able to compliment it very well as a Wonder Bra would do for your top.
- Narrow around the leg so it can give shape: this helps to compliment and elongate your legs.
3. Length
- Making sure you are wearing heels or not.
- If wearing jeans with heels the bottom of your jeans should skim the bottom of your toes – You don’t want your jeans to drag.
- Flats or Lower Heels: Jeans for casual use are a great way to go if you can spend for both. The same rule applies for casual jeans with flats. You don’t want your jeans to drag completely.
**Splurge jeans are good for going out and dressing up and Casual Jeans the best steals are from The Gap, Old Navy, Express, H&M …Mostly priced under $70.00
**Remember to get your jeans tailored if they are extremely long. Most boutiques will have someone they recommend going to or going to a Nordstroms or Bloomingdales they will do it as well in their alterations department for a reasonable fee.
4. Color
Going with the basic colors helps. If you have a least one pair of each you can always find something to dress it up or down. Remember that if you stick with a very classic and basic color you could always match it with a white blouse or white basic tee — these are also two other Fashion staples you should have in your closet
- White
- Stone Washed
- Dark Denim
- Black
5. Waist Length
Length is important because that is what will make or break a look and comfort.
Short Torso: Low Rise Jeans help to give the illusion of being longer and leaner as opposed to high waist jeans that will make you appear short and stout.
Long Torso: Low rise jeans will make up appear freakishly tall but pairing it with the right shirt or blouse will help .
6. Size
- PICK THE RIGHT SIZE!! Most designers have slightly different cuts and styles so sizing will forever vary.
- Do not religiously stick to one size…try them on.
- Avoid picking something too snug since comfort is key to looking great.
- Buy the right size regarding the number.
