It is no surprise and it is nothing new to see eco-trends and being Green being the new “in” thing, and the fashion industry is no different. The nonprofit Sustainable Technology Education Project (STEP) defines eco-fashions as clothes “that take into account the environment, the health of consumers and the working conditions of people in the fashion industry.” Although, it may seem like the green movement in clothing has been a big thing, it was back in 2005 that New York Fashion Week debut the first Eco Fashion Trends. Boutiques such as RAG – Residents Apparel Gallery in Hayes Valley is one of the many here in San Francisco that carry Green & Fair Trade fashions.
When shopping for eco-fashion to make sure that it truly is Green and Organic check the label for organic fibers (abaca, bamboo, hemp cottons and wools, piña cloth)
